Brazil Itinerary: 2 Weeks Travel Plan

I spent two unforgettable weeks traveling Brazil from beaches to the Amazon basin. This giant country bursts with color, wildlife, and energy. Here is my plan.

Overview

Brazil is enormous, so two weeks works best with a focused and smart route. I linked Rio, the Amazon, the wildlife wetlands, and the mighty falls perfectly.

Days 1 to 3: Rio de Janeiro

I started with three days in the dazzling city of Rio de Janeiro first. I rode to Christ the Redeemer and relaxed on the famous golden beaches.

I climbed Sugarloaf Mountain for sweeping views at sunset and truly loved it. Late dinners and live samba music brought the unforgettable city to life daily.

Days 4 to 6: The Amazon

I flew north to the mighty Amazon rainforest for a real jungle adventure. I cruised the wide rivers and spotted pink dolphins and monkeys along the way.

Guided jungle walks revealed towering trees and incredible colorful birdlife fully. Sleeping in an eco lodge amid the immense green silence felt truly magical.

Days 7 to 8: The Pantanal

I flew toward the vast wetlands of the Pantanal for amazing wildlife viewing. From boats and on foot I spotted jaguars, capybaras, and endless water birds.

The sheer abundance of animals here was simply astonishing to witness daily. It delivered the safari experience I had always dreamed of finding in South America.

Days 9 to 10: Iguazu Falls

I traveled south to the enormous and thunderous Iguazu Falls complex next. I walked the dramatic boardwalks and felt the incredible spray on my face all day.

I viewed the falls from both the Brazilian and Argentine sides completely. The sheer power and scale left me completely speechless and totally in awe.

Days 11 to 12: Salvador de Bahia

I flew north to the vibrant city of Salvador de Bahia for culture time. I wandered the colorful Pelourinho and watched capoeira in the historic squares.

The Afro Brazilian music, food, and energy here were unlike anywhere else on earth. Salvador gave me a deep sense of the soul and rich history of the nation.

Days 13 to 14: Return

I traveled back toward Rio through the lovely colonial town of Paraty first. I kayaked calm bays and enjoyed the slow preserved cobblestone atmosphere there.

I returned to Rio for my final day of beach and food before flying home. My two week loop closed perfectly with rich memories and absolutely no stress.

Where to Stay

I mixed trendy pousadas in the cities with jungle eco lodges deep in nature. Rio offered beachfront places while the Amazon gave me lodges amid the forest.

Everywhere offered warm hosts, comfortable beds, and glowing reviews daily. The variety of lodging matched the incredible variety of the whole journey.

Getting Around

Domestic flights tied my far flung two week route together seamlessly. I flew between all the major regions to save days of exhausting road travel.
