Argentina Itinerary: 2 Weeks Travel Plan

I spent two epic weeks crossing Argentina from the capital to the far south edge. This vast land packs in falls, glaciers, wine, and mountains. Here is my plan.

Overview

Argentina is enormous, so two weeks works best with smart flights planned ahead. I linked Buenos Aires, the falls, wine country, and Patagonia cleanly.

My route starts in the capital before heading north to the great Iguazu Falls. Then I fly south through Mendoza and into the wilds of Patagonia.

This loop uses short flights to make the most of every available single day. I balanced city buzz with nature and never felt rushed throughout the trip.

Days 1 to 3: Buenos Aires

I started with three days exploring the elegant capital of Buenos Aires town. I wandered La Boca, the trendy Palermo district, and historic San Telmo.

Evenings were spent watching tango, dining late, and enjoying the lively vibe. This give me a rich cultural foundation for everything still to come.

Days 4 to 5: Iguazu Falls

I flew north to the mighty Iguazu Falls on the Brazil border line. I walked dramatic boardwalks right over the thundering cascades and felt the spray.

Taking a boat ride under the falls was thrilling and completely unforgettable. The immense power and scale here left me totally awestruck and speechless.

Days 6 to 7: Mendoza Wine Country

I flew west to Mendoza for two delightful days in the vineyards areas. I cycled between wineries, tasted superb Malbec, and admired the Andes backdrop.

Wine tours here were affordable, scenic, and wonderfully relaxing to enjoy. A mountain day trip added dramatic views to my couple of calm days.

Days 8 to 10: El Calafate and the Glacier

I flew south to El Calafate and the mighty Perito Moreno Glacier next. I hiked its boardwalks and watched enormous blue ice chunks calve into the water.

This towering glacier remains one of the most stunning sights I have ever seen. The balmy summer weather here made the whole day utterly perfect honestly.

Days 11 to 12: El Chalten Trekking

I traveled north to the trekkers town of El Chalten for trail adventure. I hiked toward the legendary Mount Fitz Roy through dramatic mountain valleys.

Wild Patagonian wind and endless open views made this an unforgettable hike. Watching sunrise color the granite peak was the highlight of my whole trip.

Days 13 to 14: Ushuaia and Return

I flew to the end of the world at Ushuaia for my grand finale stop. I boated the Beagle Channel past sea lions and the wind swept coastal landscape.

I explored Tierra del Fuego park and felt a true sense of far southern awe. Then I flew back to Buenos Aires for my flight home with total ease.

Where to Stay

I mixed stylish city hotels in Buenos Aires with warm mountain lodges right. In Mendoza and Patagonia I picked friendly guesthouses near the highlights.

Every place offered comfortable beds, strong reviews, and wonderful hosts daily. The variety of lodging matched the awesome variety of the whole journey.

Getting Around

Domestic flights tied my far flung route together incredibly efficiently. I flew between all the major regions to save days of very long road travel.

Local buses and shared shuttles covered the shorter hops on the ground fine. In cities I used the metro, taxis, and reliable ride apps for easy movement.

Daily Budget

I spent about seventy dollars a day across my whole two week trip here. That covered flights, lodging, meals, transport, and most of the guided activities.

The flights between distant regions formed the biggest share of my budget spent. Patagonia was pricier than the cities but utterly worth every cent. my budget travel guide

Safety Tips

I traveled in daylight and used registered taxis and trusted shuttles all along. I kept my valuables hidden and avoided walking alone late at night.

Right in busy city centers I stayed especially aware and alert completely. These simple habits kept my whole two week journey calm and completely safe.

Local Tips

Book domestic flights several weeks ahead to lock in the best prices steadily. I found the routes filled up fast, especially during the summer holiday peak.

Pack for both hot lowlands and freezing high south stretches easily. Layering clothes and good hiking boots kept me comfortable through every region.

Final Thoughts

Two weeks gave me a sweeping taste of Argentina’s enormous dramatic variety. I left with memories of glaciers, falls, wine, and wild Patagonian peaks.

This massive country deserves every one of my fourteen action packed days. I cannot wait to return and explore the many regions I still left unseen.

Whatever season you choose, this country rewards a little extra time on the ground. Keep your days flexible and you will uncover more with every step.
